“Leaving my Fate to Twitter”

Today I have embarked on another challenge. I am hoping to run the London Marathon in 2013 at the age of 50 and raise £50,000 for MacMillan. This will definitely be the last time, but I want to do it well and enjoy it this time.

When I ran (or should I say staggered)  round the circuit in 2005, in what was then the Flora London Marathon, I completed it in the time of 5 hours and 51 minutes. Not bad for a fat boy, but I think I can do better this time.

However to make it even more interesting, I have put Twitter in control of my future. Our Twitter account @Coverpointfood currently has just over 800 followers. I have now tweeted that if we get to 1,000 followers by the 1st August 2012, I will be strapping on my running shoes and taking on the big challenge. Look out for the messages and updates.

I will be doing it for my brother Nick once more, who sadly left us in 2003, but as a celebration of his skills as a writer and journalist. Get onto Twitter and RT now. Come on, you want to see the fat boy run again, don’t you?

The hashtag is #50katfatand50
