Meadowhall – A Little Update

Another day, another run past Meadowhall on the M1. A quick stop to see how the Oasis is coming along, now that some serious effort has been put into bringing the food offer up to date.

The Oasis was FULL at 1.00pm on Wednesday lunchtime last week, both in the Food  Court seating area and from the extensive queues at the First Floor Restaurants. The changes that the team have done are clearly beginning to have an effect.

There is a view that Meadowhall has taken a long time to bring itself up to date in the foodservice department, but as ever, there are very good reasons for this. Creating the space necessary has not been an easy task, but the changes are very positive.

TGI’s opened on 21st October in 7,000 ft² replacing Mamma Amalfi and by all accounts has proved to be an instant hit. The company would like it to be as successful as their Trafford Centre and Bluewater stores.

Other new restaurant openings (since I was there last) included  Rib Shack and Handmade Burger . I had seen the opening of Frankie & Benny’s and Chilango. To add to this already impressive list, Wagamama are fitting out and due to be opening in December in the old pub space next to McDonald’s on the Ground Floor. Noodles have made it to the Oasis!

I have included some pics and will do a fuller review in the next couple of months.

The Food Court has also been getting a face lift - Harpers, Yangtze Express and Go (pizza and baguette, who also trade at Manchester Arndale and Liverpool John Lennon Airport) are all there now.   Great new contemporary fit outs for the new Kiosks replacing the very old and tired Out of Town offers. The Administration of OOT was a great opportunity to freshen up the Food Court, both in terms of Tenant mix and more contemporary design.
